Student Testimonials

| We have had dogs all our lives, but had never participated in an obedience school. When we adopted our new puppy Sophie from the Animal Rescue Group, they recommended obedience training. We also thought it would be a good experience for our 15 year old son.
We first met Leah at Petsmart. We were immediately impressed with her knowledge and natural empathy with the dogs, and their owners for that matter. We went to one more class after Leah left to start “The Dog House Training Academy”, and knew no one could fill her shoes. We cancelled our class at Petsmart because even no classes were better than a class without Leah. We have recently graduated from the puppy class and are anxiously waiting to enroll in the next sessions in October. We would (and have) without hesitation recommend her to anyone requiring this type of service. Leah is very professional and as stated previously, knowledgeable in the art of dog training, whether it be obedience or tricks. She never hesitates to offer advice, even if it’s something not covered in her class. Thank you Leah for helping us to raise Sophie to be the best dog she can be Because of your training classes she has the “manners” to interact with family, friends and other canines in a much more appropriate manner. Maggie -- German Shorthaird Pointer
| Hi Leah: We have always adopted dogs that lucky for us came to us very well trained. Its been quite a few years since we’ve had a puppy, especially, with Maggie’s amount of energy and eagerness to learn. We wanted to let you know how much we value the classes (beginning and intermediate) that Maggie and us have attended with you. We were very happy when we first spoke to you and found out that the classes were held in an outdoor setting which was more conducive to ours and Maggie’s needs as compared to indoors in a small confined area. Maggie has come a long way and still has a bit further to go, but with the training Maggie (and us) have received in your classes, we have every confidence that we are well on our way for all us becoming very well trained! Your patience and tips for both of us and Maggie has and will be invaluable in our continued training. Thanks again, Dale, Kathy and Maggie |
| Hi Leah: Thanks for your awesome classes!! Sigi has come a long way. If the trainers were (Chuck and I) were as great as you, it would be no problem. Your printouts were just what all new owners need. If we forget our lesson, we can refer back to our training. Thanks again for everything. Sheila Girard | Sigi -- German Shepherd

Lacey and Heather -- Aussie X and Lab X
| Leah: Domenick and I want to sincerely thank you for all your help and understanding with LACEY and HEATHER, our two beautiful and very loving dogs. When Heather joined our household, Lacey, as you know, began to show the alpha side of her personality which unfortunately lead to some very serious fights between them. With your guidance and a lot of hard work, they are now the best of friends - walk, run, play and sleep together. THANK YOU. David Starkman and Domenick Pierro |
| We have been rescuing German Shepherds (white ones primarily) for the past 9 years. We thought we had seen it all until we pulled 2 year old Bear from the "e" (euthanasia) list of a Los Angeles shelter -- he had been turned in by his owner for "Landlord issues." What a beauty he was! He seemed to love everyone, and everyone who met him was struck by his personality and looks.
After allowing him a few days to settle in, we started to notice that Bear did not even know the simplest of commands (sit, down, shake, and come was out of the question); keeping him confined to a crate was almost impossible and he was food, toy and dog aggressive. Trying to get Bear to do even the simplest things was next to impossible because he had never been taught to work. Even though shepherds are born craving a job, Bear wasn't interested. It's our guess that he had simply been handed what little he had received during the first few years of his life, and had never had to depend on anyone or work for anything. All of our experience with German Shepherds did not prepare us for a dog that simply had no work ethic and that did not know how to work. An email to Leah and she volunteered to take on our problem child. Bear went to live with Leah and her dogs, Ava (a German Shepherd) and Carl (a male Lab). About 10 days later, Bear came home -- what a difference! He was reliably crate trained, sat without being asked before he went in or out of a door, sat, downed and offered his paw when asked, and the food, toy and dog aggression were just about gone. He was a much happier and easier to live with dog. The best part is, the following week, when Bear was introduced to a prospective family, HE WAS ADOPTED! Bear had already been returned to us twice because of his behavior but, thanks to Leah, Bear is now in his forever home and doing well. Thanks, Leah!
